Where Unlocked Doors Lead

Description

Where to begin, this one has a fairly interesting backstory... lesse...

i suppose being a fairly unsocial and loner type person (only in real life hah ; ) has its benefits... unlike many of my peers i do not enjoy going out to 'social' places such as clubs blah blah... so this leaves me with a good amount of free time on my hands during weekends and such... so, this in turn leads to boredom... and i guess i could say that photography has become a major one of those solutions... anyways, shortly before i was taking a lot of pictures, i found it fun to wander around the university i attend in the middle of the night(along the lines of 12-5am)... during these times, i just go into buidlings(since this is a university many of the buildings r open) and see what interesting places i can get into. ive been on many of the roofs of the buildings around here, and in other places that the average student prolly didnt think existed(places like this photo). to make it interesting, i check many many doors to see if they r unlocked(and many times they r!). this prolly could be a good way to get myself arrested, but i dont really care, it was(and is) a lot of fun...

after a while i started bringing my camera and tripod with me, this is how i got shots like the above, [link] and [link] .

anyways, whats pictured in the photo above is one of the more interesting places i found on my first night...
there was a door that looked like it led to maybe some kinda janitors closet, but when i tried to open it this is what i saw. i was amazed, it was a really exhilerating feeling. im not sure exactly what this skinny room is used for, but i found that there was one on every floor of that building... i could see the other levels above me, because the floor was just that grated metal u can see in the photo... this was the one on the first floor, and it actually led down to a basement... very fun exploring...

i have about 4 more that i took down there but this one is by far the best...

jesus this is a long desciption... anyways, here r the more technical aspects:
errr, i forgot the film, it was either fuji astia 100 or kodak elitechrome 100, come to think of it it was prolly the kodak... im pretty sure
hmmm, it seems ive also forgot the exact exposure(i wouldnt call any of my exposures exact, as i never think to myself before a photo 'hmm im gonna expose this for xxx seconds,' i just expose til i feel its ready lol) but it was prolly around 10-15 secs(at f5.6, as usual), thats prolly what id have done for this shot
pentax H3 with 80B filter
cropped a bit in photoshop...

sorry for this longwinded description

this reminds me of two things. "the net" with sandra bullock at the very end. and Freddy Cruiger movies. very creepy, dark, mysterious look. love the lights, shadows, colors and just all around affect! amazing shot. shows real line in man made form. love it :peace:
